Smart Cities in Asia Pacific: Driving Infrastructure and the Data Center at the Edge

The urban ecosystem today is digitally transforming to promote a myriad of improvements specifically environmental (pollution control, traffic decongestion), financial (taxation revenues, digital payments), and social (crime prevention, community education). Countries today are investing in intelligent infrastructure to support smart city initiatives with worldwide spending estimated at US$67.8 billion in 2018.

But while there is strong interest from the government sector across the globe for smart cities, there are still challenges and issues that need to be addressed.

This paper, co-developed by Vertiv and IDC, takes a look at the broader smart city landscape in Asia Pacific, exploring the challenges faced and identifying the infrastructure needed to support smart city initiatives.
