This document details the results of the Alfresco Content Services (ACS) Solr Index Availability and Disaster Recovery Proof of Concept (POC) that Alfresco has recently completed. This POC centered around testing the persistence of Solr indexes on Amazon Web Services (AWS) providing a highly available archictecture as well as auto scaling of Solr shards using a database id approach.
